Heartsong Music offers Spanish classes for children and their parents!
Through art, games, music and stories, you and your child will learn Spanish words and phrases that will allow you to communicate in day to day life.
Our Winter Session will be offered for 9 weeks and will start January 7 and will go through March 6.
The classes will be taught at Heartsong Music in the "Blue" room.
Class times are:
Monday:
4:00- 4:45 pm - 3-5 year olds
5:00-5:45pm
- 3-5 years olds
Thursday:
4:00-4:45pm
- 0-3 year olds
The cost is $150. Tuition includes a wonderful book with song lyrics, music and illustrations. Each class will include a snack for both children and parents, materials to make an art project, and a vocabulary print out to practice new words at home. If you would like to register a sibling as well, the cost will be $115 for the second child.
The instructor is one of our Heartsong Music Moms, Catherine Miller Desbois. She has an extensive Spanish/teaching background from working as a public school teacher for 12 years in the Denver Public Schools,
Fairfax County(Virginia) Public Schools and AISD. She has taught bilingual
and ESL students from kindergarten through high school and has also taught
Spanish to middle school and high school students. She has an MA in
Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado and has
studied Spanish in Salamanca, Spain and Taxco, Mexico. She is licensed to teach Spanish and ESL in Texas. She became interested in teaching Spanish to toddlers when she became a
stay-at-home mom. She uses an Easy Immersion curriculum which
promotes using large motor activities, singing and art in order to
teach basic day-to- day Spanish vocabulary to young children.
